jamie xx - far nearer I've been listening to this song for a bit but every time I forget and then remember it I'm always so happy to hear it
again.
rachmaninof plays rachmoninof. I can't really chose one piece but when
I need inspiration I just put on headphones and this whole album. It's
pretty insane.
wildcat wildcat - mr quiche . We played a show with these guys a couple
weeks ago. Besides them being some of the nicest guys I've met in a
while, their music is awesome. This is my favorite track of theirs.
Super chill vibes but makes you want to dance. My perfect combination.
gold panda - before we talked - Gold Panda is out
of the uk. again, i highly recommend this entire record, but one of my
favorite tracks is "before we talked".
I listened to a lot of Gold Panda while making our record. I listened
to this almost every day driving through Topanga canyon and all along
Pacific Coast Highway to the studio in Santa Monica. This was perfect
Southern California driving music and the different sounds inspired me
to work. I think it's really cool how tangible, memorable, and
listenable this record is even though it is instrumental. I've listened
to it so many times in the last two years, and am still no where near
sick of it. the instrumentation creates catchy melodies that stick in
your head no lyrics necessary.
modeselektor ft thom yorke- "shipwreck" I love this song just have a
listen. The video is really cool too.
We recently chatted with Brandi from Frank + Derol who caught us up on what she's currently listening to...
987 is proud to announce another addition to the 2012 Artist in Residence Program. We're spoiled living in LA these days. The scene is really thriving... Even better is the community that is built around it. Great tastemakers at local venues have been supporting the scene with free shows, repetition, and really putting their name behind a band to support a month long residency.
At 987, we wanted to build on the residency concept and support a new band each month. However, instead of playing a show every week, we're going to give you the opportunity to hear songs and interviews and watch exclusive videos. We're also going to tie the band into all of the music features on 987FM, whether it be co-hosting our New Music Show, guest DJing our commercial free stream, online chats, or exposing them to other Rockaholics via social media.
Our 9th 2012 resident artist is Frank + Derol. Check in here throughout the month for exclusive content with the band and don't forget to buy their EP, out now on Interscope Records.
