According to Andrew McMahon, Jack’s Mannequin’s third album, People and Things, can be viewed as the final installment to a three-part story. But fear not, fans – while this chapter is coming to a close, there’s still plenty to be written.
If the 29-year-old’s debut, Everything in Transit, was his melodic break-up record, and 2008’s The Glass Passenger was a snapshot of his battle with leukemia, People and Things could analogously be referred to as “the return home,” McMahon says.
McMahon is truly a storyteller, a quality that is evidenced within each of Jack’s Mannequin’s albums, as well as with all three as a whole. As for where the story goes after this point, the frontman says anything is possible. “There are a lot of things I’d like to be. I’d love to explore other mediums of art,” he says. “I would love to experiment and explore music in new ways. We’ll see…I guess time will tell.” To be continued…

Jack's Mannequin Announce 2012 Tour Dates In Support of People and Things, Out Now
Performing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! December 5th
Jack's Mannequin have announced 2012 tour dates in support of People and Things, which was released on October 4th. The band just wrapped up a five week nationwide tour this weekend with a pair of hometown shows that included the sold-out annual Dear Jack Foundation Benefit Concert at Los Angeles' El Rey Theater on Friday that raised money for frontman Andrew McMahon's Dear Jack Foundation, a volunteer-run charitable organization that helps raise awareness and supports charities that help young adult cancer patients. Jack's Mannequin will perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on December 5th, and then in the new year will set off on a string of US dates that kick off in St. Louis on January 19 and run through February 11 in Washington DC. Following the US tour they will head to Australia for the Soundwave Festival before heading to Japan for a handful of dates.
People and Things debuted at #1 on Billboard's Alternative Albums Chart and at #9 on the overall Billboard 200 chart, as well as at #9 on Spotify's album chart. American Songwriter called the first single "My Racing Thoughts" "a superb piece of piano rock that rivals some of Elton John's best '70s hits" and calls People and Things "easily the most musically cohesive album in the band's catalog thus far." Absolute Punk agrees that "it isn't a stretch to call People and Things the best record of Andrew McMahon's career. It's almost a given that no pop album this year will be able to match the depth of this release."

987 is proud to announce another addition to the 2011 Artist in Residence Program. We're spoiled living in LA these days. The scene is really thriving... Even better is the community that is built around it. Great tastemakers at local venues have been supporting the scene with free shows, repetition, and really putting their name behind a band to support a month long residency.
At 987, we wanted to build on the residency concept and support a new band each month. However, instead of playing a show every week, we're going to give you the opportunity to hear songs and interviews and watch exclusive videos. We're also going to tie the band into all of the music features on 987FM, whether it be co-hosting our New Music Show, guest DJing our commercial free stream, online chats, or exposing them to other Rockaholics via social media.
Our 11th 2011 resident artist is Jack's Mannequin! Check in here throughout the month for exclusive content with the band. For now, check out the band's video for "My Racing Thoughts."
