KISS and Motley Crue have announced their summer co-headlining tour -- which will simply be called The Tour -- at a press conference in L.A. yesterday. KISS and the Crue haven't toured together since 1982, and this time around they're pulling out all the stops. Each act will do a 90-minute full-stage show at every stop.
As to exactly how it will work, we can tell you KISS will close the show and that the bands won't be playing together. KISS singer-guitarist Paul Stanley revealed to us that each band will have its own stage and that the specifics are still being designed. Pressed for more details about the kind of spectacle fans can expect, Stanley and Gene Simmons both good-naturedly poked fun at Crue drummer Tommy Lee -- Stanley saying that he'd be playing only one drum and would raise it over his head as a finale, and Simmons "revealing" that they're working with scientists on a 3D version of Tommy's notorious sex tape to be used as a show opener.
KISS has finished a new album, Monster, but Stanley doesn't expect it to be out in time for the tour, although its first single should be. Motley Crue have been working on material for a new album to be released next year. Bassist Nikki Sixx says they'll include a new song called "Sex" on the tour.
